Window and column resizing and editing
The Main and Import windows are resizable. They can be stretched horizontally and vertically and adjust column width.
Window height and width are memorized and reused.
Main window Comments are editable. Enter edit mode by selecting a proxy from the
list, then pressing key Enter (Return). Hit key Enter again to save comments and
exit edit mode.
Some Import columns are editable - Web Page, Type, Comments. Select a field with the mouse, then hit
Enter. When finished typing, hit Enter again to exit.
Customize your Proxy List
Sort - this is the most powerful customization tool. You can sort the whole list or just selected lines. The sort could be ascending or descending.
With no line selected right-click on any column title (i.e. Server Name,
Comments) and choose "Sort by column" from the Menu - the whole list will
be sorted. To select multiple lines, either left-click and drag the mouse pointer, or
single left-click then scroll up or down and Shift+Left-click. When you
right-click on a column title, only the selected lines will be sorted.
With this method you can rearrange the Proxy List very precisely.
Color - select Color from the Command Menu. The foreground and background color of each line can be
changed. You can also change these attributes for multiple lines at
once.
Comments - hit Enter on a selected line, or choose Edit Comments from the Command Menu. You can add personal notes about the server,
i.e. speed, support for FTP, etc. HiProxy will remind you to
save your changes to the List File. Advanced users can
edit the List File manually with their default text editor by pressing button Edit.
Get proxy country by IP address
HiProxy has an IP-to-country database to identify proxy's country by IP
address. The database is stored in file ip-country.csv in the HiProxy
folder. The latest database file is available for download.
To find a country, select a proxy from the list, right-click and hit "Find
Country by IP". For proxies without IP address, first use command "Get
server IP".
Internet Explorer related
You can open multiple IE windows, each working with a different proxy server.
Hit CTRL/N to open a new IE window with same caption, proxy and history.
Changing proxies manually in Internet Explorer invalidates any previous
proxy settings in all open windows.
Dial-Up
users
- Connect to the Internet first, then open HiProxy. You
must have a live connection for HiProxy to detect your real IP address,
assigned dynamically by your ISP. If all proxy servers return as non-responding
(gray) during verification, most probably you are not connected.
- If you use IE, select your correct dial-up connection from the
drop-down box called Connection.
The "LAN" connection set by default is for LAN and cable/DSL modems,
not for dial-up modems. RAS
must be installed to show all connections.
- Open a new IE window after each proxy server
change. Button Apply can be customized to open a new window
automatically.
